As members turned up for the Aquatic Macrophytes workshop at Rocksavage Nature Reserve the sun was shining and ponds were beckoning. After a short talk from CAN’s very own botanical doyen and leader for the day, Jack Swan, the attendees got to grips with some of the plants. Though feel, smell, roll, peel, squeeze, pull and rub sounds like the cast of the blue version of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, it was actually the techniques used to key out many of the water plants, and with Jack on hand to answer any questions the day went swimmingly and only punctuated by the lunch and refreshments that Rocksavage kindly provided.  We had excellent feedback for this event and may run a similar event next season.
